NEWSLETTER FOR END OF THIRD TERM – 2017/2018 ACADEMIC SESSION

  1. The Third   Term  of  2017/2018  Academic   Session   ends  on  Friday,  20th  July, 2018. Students will leave for third term holiday same day except JSS3 that had left on Saturday, 12th May 2018. Parents/Guardians are please requested to go through this Newsletter and get acquainted with the information. Complaint could be made through the Commandant’s Official line 08184287307 or the School Matron on 08033783297.

 

RESUMPTION DATE

  1. The resumption date for first  term 2018/2019  Academic  Session is 15th    September, 2018. Parents/Guardians  are  reminded  that  late  resumption is  not  tolerated by the School. The School gate will be closed for registration by 5:00pm on the Resumption Day. Please be informed that resumption on Sunday is not allowed as the pay office and those responsible for the receiving of students will not be available. Any late resumption would only be  entertained on the next working day, i.e. Monday . The First Term Tentative Forecast of Events is enclosed to acquaint you with events for next term.

SCHOOL FEES/LEVIES

  1. The students are expected to pay the under listed fees and levies: For parents who wish to pay cash must do so in the Bursary Department and ensure receipts are stamped and issued by the pay supervisor while Bank Draft can be paid in favor of Air Force Girls Comprehensive School Abuja and photocopies kept as evidence after submission of original copy to the Bursary Department of the School.

  1. Home Economics, Catering, Creative Arts, Science and Technical Practical Demonstrations Classes

In view of the new syllabus emphasis on practical lessons, students taking the above mentioned subjects are expected to pay the following levies in order to enable them buy what they need for practical demonstration classes:

PTA MEETING/OPEN/VISITING DAY

  1. The PTA/Visiting Day  for   First  Term  will  hold  between 9:00am and 5:00pm on  20th October, 2018. Parents are advised to be punctual and attend the meeting as well as to check their children/wards’ books and make comments or observations as the case may be. This will enable the School and parents work more harmoniously for the progress of the Children.

ACADEMIC MATTERS

  1. A lot of students have incomplete books for study. Parents/Guardians are kindly requested to purchase Books for their children/wards to ensure smooth academic activities.Find enclosed, the List of required Textbooks for the next Academic Session. Parents are at liberty to buy from preferred sources or through the Administrative Officer (AO) as all publishers have made arrangement for the supply of the books to the School. Call 08033783297 for any information on the purchase of available books.
  2. Furthermore, parents should ensure that take home assignments given are done. Additionally, extra lessons in subjects like Mathematics, handwriting and other weak areas of their children/wards should be encouraged during the holiday with emphasis on topics given by their subject teachers. This will prepare them for task of new class ahead.

COLLEGE DREAM: ACCESS TO ONLINE RESULT

  1. The School Operates School portal which parents can access through the school website: www.afgcsabj.com.ng then enter the student’s admission number and access code (confidential) which is displayed on the student’s report sheet. You can also download the android app on Google play store and on the School’s website.

HEALTH MATTERS

  1. Parents are advised to carry out comprehensive medical checkup and treatment on their children before resumption. Furthermore, students on medication should submit such drugs to the School Nurse on resumption day for guided administration. Possession of drugs by students is strictly prohibited. Parents are also advised to desist from bringing self-prescribed medicine for their children as this will amount to drug abuse.  For emphasis, students resuming late are allowed to come with only Medical Paper from any Military or Government Hospital. Private Hospital medical excuse papers are not acceptable.

PERSONAL ITEMS

  1. The rules on the use of Mobile Phones and smuggling of contrabands is still viewed seriously as offence in the School. Possession of phones by students attract suspension. Parents are please advised to desist from giving phones to their children for keep . Any phone brought to the school should be deposited with the school matron. Students are only allowed to bring in school uniforms, tracksuits, Blue Hijab for Muslim students and Christian Worship dress. Parents are please requested to avoid buying of rechargeable lamps, Torch lights and Wrist watches that have radio facilities, not only is it an offence, it is also a distraction to other students as students could put on the radio in the hostels.
  2. Parents who wish to make new Uniforms for their Children/Wards in the School could indicate  so  by  contacting  the School Matron so the child’s measurement could  be  taken upon resumption  at  the  rate  of  Three Thousand Five Hundred Naira (#3,500.00) Only (Top and Trouser with Badge). Also, Cortina Shoes are available in the School at the rate of Three Thousand Eight Hundred Naira (#3,800.00) only. Interested Parents/Guardians can obtain the shoe on resumption Day.
  3. Parents are advised to inscribe names on the hidden parts of all their children/wards belongings including school uniforms for easy identification in cases of loss. It is advisable to check your children/wards’ books and other items when they get home to ensure they are intact. This would help curtail the rate at which students throw away their books and cloths.

STUDENT WELFARE MATTERS

  1. The School authority has observed that parents have made efforts to get proper Bed sheet sizes and Pillow cases, however, It is important to note that any bed sheet and pillow case  sewn  not  using  the  recommended dimensions of 1.6m width, length 2.6m and 58cm by 75cm of China White material will be rejected. Additionally, all students are advised to come with Umbrella or Rain Coat because of the Raining season which may be experienced during the month of September.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT

  1. The general requirement for next termis contained in Annex A to this Newsletter. Parents/Guardians are please requested to go through the list and endeavor to provide these items to make their children/wards’ stay during the academic session productive.
